2012 Summer Programs

Amigos de Palo Alto will be offering various camps and programs this summer, open to all students, not just Amigos de Palo Alto students! Visit our Summer Programs page for more information.

Parent Participation Preschool

Spanish Immersion Preschool program is designed for children who do not yet understand nor speak Spanish as well as children who are more proficient in Spanish. Our preschool provides an opportunity for children to learn Spanish through the experiences presented in a typical childhood curriculum. Children will learn developmentally-appropriate, functional use of the Spanish language.

Our program is highly interactive and uses music, art and cultural expression to enhance learning. Activities include reading, writing, lots of arts and crafts, cooking, sports. Parent, guardian or caregiver participation is required in this program and the parent must attend and participate one day every three weeks.  A minimum of three sessions are required for the parent/caregiver with an option to "buy out" after attending three classes in a year. Parents and caregivers are allowed to speak English in class.

The program is for children ages 2.9 and up by September of current school year.  Some exceptions made on age on a case by case basis.  There is no need for a child to be party trained.

Kinder Fun Club

The Kinder Fun Club is intended for Kindergarten-aged children who wish to continue learning Spanish after graduating from Amigos de Palo Alto Preschool. Most of our students in this program attend Escondido Elementary School, and are part of their Spanish-Immersion program. However, we accept other students, as long as they have some experience with the Spanish language. Unlike our preschool programs, which emphasize learning through immersion, our Kinder Fun Club is intended for children who have already been exposed to the language. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis.  We can also pick up your children from Escondido when class lets out, and walk them back to Amigos with us.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday from 12:00PM - 4:30PM

Young Fives Program

Our Young Fives Program is designed to prepare children with late birthdays for Kindergarten. The curriculum is a little more advanced than that of the regular preschool program, so that the Young Fives can continue to feel challenged while they learn.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday from 12:00PM - 4:00PM
