Parent Participation Preschool Amigos de Palo Alto Spanish Immersion Preschool program is designed for children who do not yet understand nor speak Spanish as well as children who are more proficient in Spanish. Our preschool provides an opportunity for children to learn Spanish through the experiences presented in a typical childhood curriculum. Children will learn developmentally-appropriate, functional use of the Spanish language. Our program is highly interactive and uses music, art and cultural expression to enhance learning. Parent, guardian or caregiver participation is required in this program and the parent must attend and participate one day every three weeks.  A minimum of three sessions are required for the parent/caregiver with an option to "buy out" after attending three classes in a year. Parents and caregivers are allowed to speak English in class. The After School Program Our little Crocodiles Amigos de Palo Alto Spanish Immersion after school program provides a very nurturing and loving environment. Spanish is learned naturally through immersion in a fun, hands-on, and interactive class!  Teachers will promote cross-cultural awareness through Spanish language instruction with multiple tools and techniques.  Children enjoy Spanish with music, phonics, circle time and story time, science and cooking projects, games and activities.  Teachers will assist children with homework and work closely with parents to straighten areas that need improvement.   Children are pick up from Escondido Elementary which is just about a block away from our location. Programs are offered for Spanish speakers, dual immersion students and students graduating from our preschool program.  Program serve ages Kindergarten, First and Second grades. We offer the following sessions. Amigos Fun Club Amigos Fun Club program is an extension of our preschool program and children love it.  There is a theme for each month and a monthly calendar with stated activities is provided to the parents.  We use rhymes, riddles and jokes of the Latin American culture.   Children have a chance to socialize in Spanish, regardless if Spanish is the language spoken at home or acquired through our immersion program.  Note:  at point in time program is limited to 16 hours per week but we expect that to change prior to the beginning of the new school year. Schedule:     Monday through Friday 12:00 PM to 5:50 PM     Amigos Kinder Fun Club is designed for children in Kindergarden.  The program is an extension of our preschool program and children love it.  At this crucial time that the children are being taught so many different things, we help re-enforce what is being learned in the classroom with out them really knowing it! Schedule:     Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from pick up time to 3:00 PM This program is great for those parents who have sibling to be picked up from school at a later departure time or just need a little bit more of time to get some work done in the office or at home.
